Using Eco-Friendly Chemicals: From Sealants to Cleaners

In the process of building and maintaining your patio and your deck, you’re going to need a fair amount of chemicals.

First, you’ll need sealants to help keep various parts together and to keep water out. You’ll need paints and paint coating to make various parts of your patio look nice.

You’ll need cleaners to help keep your patio in tiptop condition. This is a chemical that you’ll use again and again.

Each and every one of these chemicals has an industrial version and an eco-friendly version. Why should you choose to go eco-friendly?

==> Green Manufacturing

Eco friendly chemicals are made using what’s called green manufacturing procedures.

Green manufacturing is the practice of using sustainable techniques to produce chemicals. Green manufacturers are highly conscious of the by-products that manufacturing creates, including by-products in the water and in pollution. Green manufacturers produce zero to minimal amounts of by-products.

Furthermore, they use as few unhealthy chemicals as possible throughout the rest of their plants. For example, instead of cleaning the factory with ammonia or other harmful chemicals, the plants are cleaned with jet streams of water.

==> Biodegradable Packaging

Most industrial products have packaging and bottles that aren’t biodegradable. That means that when you throw the packaging away, it could sit in landfill for forty years or more.

On the other hand, biodegradable packaging is designed so mother nature can easily break it down and return it to soil through bacteria, micro-organisms and other life forms.

Eco-friendly products are designed with biodegradability in mind. Their bottles and containers are generally all biodegradable.

==> No Harmful Chemicals

Many traditional cleaning chemicals contain copious amounts of toxic materials. Chemicals like formaldehyde, petroleum solvents, chlorine, diethylene glycol and many more are used to make the cleaning solution cheap to manufacture while staying effective.

Green cleaning solutions don’t have this problem. They’re made from safe and environmentally friendly materials.

==> Fewer Marketing and Packaging Dollars, More on the Product

When a giant multinational corporation produces a cleaning product, much of the expense isn’t actually the product, but the marketing and the packaging.

The actual powder inside a box of cleaning solution doesn’t cost all that much to manufacture. However, marketing that box so that when you’re at the supermarket you’ll pick it rather than the others does cost a lot of money.

Most eco-friendly products spend considerably less money on marketing and on packaging. Instead, the majority of their money is spent on the product and they rely on eco-conscious consumers like yourself to pick their product based on quality rather than advertising.

By buying eco-friendly chemicals, you support these companies in creating higher quality products that have zero to no harmful chemicals, are completely biodegradable, and are manufactured in a green and eco-friendly environment.
